Netflix has analysed its global streaming data to discover the exact episodes that got people hooked on its most popular TV shows.

The streaming service picked out the episode of a show's debut season which – after it was viewed – kept 70 per cent of people watching for the rest of the season or more.

Traditionally, a TV show's pilot episode has made or ruined its success on the airwaves, yet Netflix found that most people got hooked on a series later into its run – suggesting that its model of dumping entire seasons onto the platform at once can be more effective at building a loyal audience.

Here's the particular episodes of popular series that got people glued to their couch:

The Duel: "Lily moves in with Marshall and Ted, and when Ted suspects that he's being edged out of the apartment, he and Marshall decide to settle it like men." (IMDb)

Suits – Episode 2

Errors and Omissions: "Harvey discovers that the judge in his patent case has a personal vendetta against him, while Louis tries to blackmail Mike in order to get his help bringing in a valuable client." (IMDb)
