Us Open 2015: Andy Murray set for showdown with bad boy Nick Kyrgios

Britain’s Andy Murray will begin his quest for a third grand slam title with an opening round clash against controversial Australian Nick Kyrgios at the US Open, which starts on Monday.

World No37 Krygios was fined $10,000 earlier this month after making a lewd comment about French Open winner Stan Wawrinka’s girlfriend as the pair clashed in the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

Third seed Murray has already beaten Kyrgios twice this year, at the French Open and Australian Open, without dropping a set, while their only other meeting came at the Canadian Masters last year where the Scot also won convincingly.

Should Murray dispatch Kyrgios, France’s Adrian Mannarino or a qualifier lie in wait in round two. Fellow Briton James Ward, who opens up against Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci, is a potential opponent in the third round. Slovenia-born British No2 Aljaz Bedene has been drawn against Latvia’s Ernests Gulbis, while in the women’s draw Heather Watson faces America’s Lauren Davis and Laura Robson Russia’s Elena Vesnina.
