Murray’s brave comeback held up by bad light

BRITAIN’S Andy Murray is just a set away from completing one of the finest comebacks of his career against Viktor Troicki in the fourth round of the French Open.
The world No4’s participation was in doubt until he completed a public training session in the afternoon as he attempted to overcome the ankle injury he picked up during Saturday’s win over Michael Berrer.
His apparent lack of mobility was exploited during the first two sets and he appeared to be on the way home when he went an early break down in the third, before cutting loose and launching a fightback.
Murray (right) claimed the next two sets for the loss of just five games to level the match before play was suspended for bad light with the Scot firmly in the ascendancy.
The pair must now play the final set today, with the winner going on to face unseeded Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela in the quarter-finals.
Serbia’s Novak Djokovic is one victory away from becoming wold No1 having reached the last four after Fabio Fognini pulled out.
Djokovic will face either Roger Federer or Gael Monfils but the walkover against Fognini does not count towards his winning run which stands at 43 consecutive victories.
Rafael Nadal, meanwhile, remains on course to equal Bjorn Borg’s record six titles at Roland Garros after he beat Croat Ivan Ljubicic 7-5, 6-3, 6-3.
He next faces fifth seed Robin Soderling in a repeat of last year’s final after the Swede beat Gilles Simon 6-2 6-3 7-6 (7-5).
In the women’s draw sixth seed Li Na came back from a break down in the deciding set to beat Petra Kvitova 2-6, 6-1, 6-3. The Australian Open runner-up will now face Victoria Azarenka, who beat Ekaterina Makarova 6-2, 6-3.
