EVERTON (0) vs BATE (1)

EVERTON boss David Moyes saw his young side come up just short against Belarusian champions BATE Borisov as the Toffees ended their group stage campaign with a narrow home defeat.

Moyes made nine changes from the side which drew 3-3 at Chelsea on Saturday in the knowledge his side had already qualified for today’s draw for the last 32.

Jack Rodwell limped off after just eight minutes to add to Moyes’ worries, but Everton stayed on level terms until the 75th minute when Alexsandr Yurevich’s 25-yard effort was deflected in off Shane Duffy.

Moyes fielded midfielder Jake Bidwell, who, at 16 years and 271 days, became the club’s youngest player to play at this level.
