Mourinho’s dig at Chelsea business

FORMER Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has accused the Blues of trying to prevent him from taking ex-charges Deco and Ricardo Carvalho to Inter Milan.

Mourinho, who managed the pair at Porto and signed Carvalho for Chelsea, has tried to lure them to the San Siro this summer.

But the Portuguese says his interest has cooled after their price was hiked up by £15m when he entered the bidding.

“To be fair about Deco, I feel it’s very difficult for a Chelsea player to come to me. Every time I’m interested in one of their players, it looks quite different,” said Mourinho. “In the summer we were told he was almost free to come. Two weeks later, when they know Inter are interested, it goes zero to five million and for Carvalho from five to 15 million. Something like that.”

Chelsea meet Manchester United in the Community Shield on Sunday, with Sir Alex Ferguson mulling a goalkeeping dilemma following Edwin van der Sar’s injury. The United boss must choose between Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak, who played a half each in Wednesday’s 2-0 friendly win over Valencia.
