The chief exec of hotels group Millennium & Copthorne (M&C) has stepped down from the role just three months after taking over.

A statement from the company said Jennifer Fox and M&C had "mutually agreed" she would leave with immediate effect.

The firm's chief of staff Tan Kian Seng will step in as interim boss while M&C pins down a full time replacement.

Fox previously worked at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, and has spent 10 years at InterContinental Hotels.

The statement did not say the reason for Fox's exit.

She was announced as the new chief exec after Aloysius Lee resigned in January, and started work in June.

M&C is currently facing tough trading conditions, and last month said its first half revenues fell to £477m compared to £485m last year.
