Manchester United may have moved a step closer to signing Juventus’ Paul Pogba after offering midfielder massive annual salary

Paul Pogba's rumoured move to Manchester United may be a step closer to becoming reality after the Premier League club detailed the large salary they'd be prepared to pay the Frenchman.

United have now told the Juventus midfielder's agent, Mino Raiola, they'll offer his client up to £11m a season, according to local reports.

Last week Raiola had poured cold water on Pogba's proposed move to Old Trafford, by arguing United were simply one of "several big clubs" interested in the player.

But United have now moved to the front of the queue, report Tuttosport and Gazzetta dello Sport, after making clear they would be prepared to both meet Juventus' huge price tag and offer the 23-year-old a massive salary.

New manager Jose Mourinho has already secured two Raiola clients in Henrikh Mkhitaryan for £26m and Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free this summer.

The club has spent nearly £60m on new acquisitions with 22-year-old centre-back Eric Bailly also joining from Villarreal for £30m.

Yet executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is believed to be ready to back him with over £100m in a bid to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford for more than 100 times what they sold him for in 2012.

Pogba, who played for United's youth academy for three years from 2009, left England due to lack of first team opportunities under then manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
