Manchester United’s new boss Louis van Gaal has been welcomed to the city with a giant billboard poster that reads “Welcome to Vanchester”.

The city’s rival football clubs have turned to giant billboards again, this time with online gambling site Betfair getting involved.

The new poster pokes fun at the Manchester City “Welcome to Manchester” poster used to welcome Tevez after the striker defected to the club from United.

The billboard went up in the Piccadilly Gardens area of Manchester in the early hours of this morning, greeting City fans after yesterday’s Charity Shield defeat and ahead of the first game of the season which kicks off on Saturday.

Van Gaal faces his first match in charge tomorrow as United play Valencia in a pre-season friendly.

Betfair said Van Gaal is already 5/2 to be manager of the month in August ahead of his debut.
