Manchester United has banned iPads from Old Trafford because of the "latest security intelligence".

Any electronic device measuring more than 150mm x 100mm is now prohibited from being taken into the stadium, and this, as the website helpfully explains, includes iPads and iPad minis.

On the club's page there is some vague information about the ban, although what the security intelligence is remains unclear.

In line with UK airports we are reacting to the latest security intelligence. These actions are designed to ensure the continued safety and security of all spectators.

There has been speculation that United doesn't want fans filming games, but the club denies this. Although Camcorders are banned in the Theatre of Dreams, as are cameras with more than three inches of zoom, smartphones and small cameras are allowed.

The club said the intelligence is "based on information we receive on a regular basis" and that the "configuration of the stadium and arrival profile of spectators" meant that fans could not demonstrate that devices were genuine by powering them on.

Below is a chart showing the items Manchester United doesn't want brought into Old Trafford. The columns are sortable.
