A group of management consultants will say this morning that its industry is thriving on the back of the UK’s economic growth.

Fee income for members of the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) jumped 8.4 per cent to £5.2bn last year, the organisation will reveal.

It estimates that for the whole UK consulting industry, fee income is now worth up to £9bn a year.

Of the £5.2bn that the MCA recorded last year, £1.4bn came from digital consulting – a 27 per cent rise on the previous year.

Author of the report Paul Connolly said the industry and the wider economy are relying on the UK staying a part of the EU. “Among our interviewees there was no enthusiasm at all for withdrawal from the world’s largest market place, which is also one of the sources of the specialist skills the UK needs to continue to grow,” he said.
