FORMER Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has sounded out manager Arsene Wenger about training with the Gunners while he looks for another club.

Campbell, 35, is without a team having walked out on ambitious League Two side Notts County just one game into a five-year contract.

“It will be great to train here and get fit,” said Campbell, who was part of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ team who went through the 2003-04 Premier League season unbeaten.

“I’ve spoken to Arsene, hopefully we can get everything right and speak to the right people and get a couple of the physios and fitness guys to help me and train. My overall fitness is OK. But something else might happen before then.”

Despite still being registered with County, the 73-cap ex-England stalwart hopes to find another team, and before the January transfer window.

“First I’ve got to get out of the contract,” he added. “There are ways of playing before January, I’m not going to elaborate, but there are ways. Not very soon, but there are ways.”
