Trains to and from London Bridge are being delayed until 8pm, according to National Rail.

A vehicle struck a bridge near the station and examiners were on site assessing the bridge.

Delays of up to 20 minutes were initially expected from Southeastern services to and from the station, though an update from the train operator said delays were now expected to continue until at least 8pm.

Elsewhere in the capital, North Greenwich station remained closed after a suspicious item was found on board an eastbound Jubilee Line in the morning.

Police said the item in question had been safe and the Met's Counter Terrorism Command is now leading an investigation into the incident.

"As a precaution a controlled detonation has since taken place in order to ensure the item was safe," British Transport Police (BTP) said in a statement.

"An investigation is now underway led by the Metropolitan Police supported by BTP.

"The station remains closed as enquiries continue and we encourage people to check withTransport for London before travelling."
