ART: Fra Angelico to Leonardo: Italian Renaissance drawings Another corker of an exhibition at the British Museum, with scores of works by the likes of Titian, Michelangelo and Botticelli showing the importance of draftsmanship in Italy’s golden age.

THEATRE: Willy Russell season at the Menier Chocolate Factory The Southwark hit-factory is currently staging terrific versions of Russell’s plays Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine, the latter with a storming solo performance from Meera Syal.

FILM: I Am Love Tilda Swinton gives one of her most memorable performances as the matriarch of a rich Milanese family on the brink of seismic change in this stunning Italian film.

THEATRE: Women Beware Women Italian wealth and power of a different age is examined in Jacobean writer Thomas Middleton’s play, the latest show in a strong season at the National Theatre. Harriet Walter stars as Livia, the scheming villainess.

ART: Paul Nash There’s one more week to catch the superb exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery of the work of Paul Nash, the British modernist painter of considerable scope best known for his devastating World War One landscapes.

LIVE MUSIC: Jazz at Wilton’s London’s oldest music hall is establishing itself as a jazz venue with its current Monday nights season of eclectic, enjoyable performances curated by the multi-talented musician Robin Harris.
