Two people have been taken to hospital and five treated at the scene after the roof of a bus was ripped off in Holborn, central London.

Eyewitness reports suggest the bus, a number 91, was damaged when it hit a tree. The accident appears to have taken place on Kingsway, by the corner of Sardinia Street.

Emergency services were soon on the scene, and all reported that, incredibly given the damage caused to the vehicle, injuries had been minor.

Transport for London has not issued a statement, although its travel alert service tweeted that Kingsway was closed southbound “due to a collision”.
