It’s election day – so here are some pictures of politicians looking awkward while voting

Across the United Kingdom today people are able to exercise their civic right to vote.

That means, shocking though it may seem, that politicians can vote too.

In fact, political parties are out in force despite many elections seemingly already determined. 

London's mayoral election is set to be a one-on-one race between Conservative Zac Goldsmith and Labour's Sadiq Khan (even though there are a record 12 candidates in the running).

And even between the two, Khan is the heavy favourite. A poll by YouGov puts Khan on 57 per cent to Goldsmith's 43 per cent, after second preferences are counted (a supplementary vote electoral system is used).

Party leaders were also sure to get their votes in early, after having exchanged bitter words in the House of Commons (and outside parliament) on the choice confronting Londoners today.
