Among all the leadership changes announced in recent weeks, here's one that really matters: City lobbying organisation TheCityUK has announced the name of its new chief executive.

Miles Celic, currently director of communications at the Prudential, will become the organisation's new chief exec later this year, when current boss Chris Cummings steps down.

“I am excited about the prospect of leading an organisation that has established such a strong reputation within our industry and with policymakers in the UK and overseas," said Celic.

"The financial and related professional services industry is a national asset – the country’s largest tax payer, a major national employer and fundamental to a strong economy – and ensuring its continued success will remain the core priority for TheCityUK. Chris has done a terrific job in leading the business since its inception and I look forward to the challenge of ensuring its continued success on the next phase of its journey.”

Chairman John McFarlane added: “We have had great interest in this role from across the industry and beyond and I am confident that Miles is a great person to take the helm from Chris.

"He already has a good understanding of the organisation and has some great ideas about how to further its success. Our industry is increasingly global and competition from other markets is growing. There is much to be done to secure its future growth and I look forward to working with Miles to get that job done.”
