Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has declared that midfielder Jordan Henderson will be “100 per cent” fit for England duty during the summer’s European Championship after returning to training this week.

Reds skipper Henderson emerged as a serious doubt for Euro 2016 after suffering a knee injury in the first leg of the club’s Europa League quarter-final showdown with Borussia Dortmund last month.

While the 25-year-old will remain sidelined for Wednesday's clash with Chelsea at Anfield, Liverpool’s Europa League final against Sevilla on 18 May remains a possibility and Euro 2016 a certainty, according to Klopp.

“Really good news,” said Klopp. “We had to rest him for a long time so he could not do a lot as we tried everything to avoid surgery, which isn’t necessary.

“Yesterday he trained, not with the team, and it looked good. He was only passing and running but looked okay. It’s nine days until the Europa League final and we will have to see [if he is fit for that] but it is 100 per cent he will be fit for Euro 2016 in France.”

Klopp is once again set to rotate his squad having rested a number of first-team players against Watford on Sunday. The likes of striker Daniel Sturridge, full-back Nathaniel Clyne and centre-half Dejan Lovren could come into contention. Liverpool are eighth, while victory tonight could propel the Reds above West Ham and Southampton into sixth.
