BOXING: Britain’s Amir Khan has set his sights on making his US debut against Paulie Malignaggi at New York’s Madison Square Garden on May 15.

The WBA light-welterweight champion joined forces with American promoters Golden Boy last month and is looking for a high-profile opponent in defence of his title after Juan Manuel Marquez was believed to have rejected an offer yesterday.

Of Malignaggi, Khan said: “I want to fight him in his home town and beat him in his home town, in front of his own people.”
