CHELSEA (1) vs QPR (0)

STRIKER Salomon Kalou opened his account for the season as the Blues maintained their 100 per cent start to the campaign. Ivory Coast international Kalou beat the offside trap early in the second half to slot the only goal of the west London derby.

Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole played the full 90 minutes in his first appearance since damaging knee ligaments in January. And £18m summer signing Yuri Zhirkov was handed a debut in a surprisingly strong line-up.

Defender Juliano Belletti drew a fine save from QPR goalkeeper Tom Heaton before the visitors had a rare effort through Akos Buzsaky.

Cole set up Kalou to fire in off the post in the 52nd minute, and 18-year-old forward Fabio Borini almost added a second but was denied by Heaton.

QPR caused a scare when a 30-yard Buzsaky drive bounced awkwardly in front of Hilario, while Cole was denied on his comeback by the impressive Heaton.
