FIVE-TIME champion Roger Federer continued his love affair with the US Open after cruising into the third round at Flushing Meadows.

The Swiss second seed eased to a 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 victory over German Andreas Beck to earn a third round clash with either Paul-Henri Mathieu or Guillaume Rufin.

Meanwhile, Russian sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko became the biggest casualty of the tournament so far after crashing 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 to Frenchman Richard Gasquet.

British hope Andy Murray takes on Jamaica’s Dustin Brown in the second round at around 8pm tonight.

xIn the women’s, top seed Caroline Wozniacki, of Denmark, inset, roared to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Kai-Chen Chang in just 47 minutes to set up a third-round clash against Yung-Jan Chan.

Wimbledon finalist Vera Zvonareva is also safely through.
