I still know way to goal, says Torres
CHELSEA striker Fernando Torres insists he’s not suffering from a crisis of confidence and believes the new Premier League season will herald a rapid return to goalscoring form for him.
The Spain international has scored just once in competitive action for the west London club since his £50m British record transfer from Liverpool in January.
But the 27-year-old says he will benefit from an uninterrupted pre-season under the watchful eye of new Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas and is ready to hit the ground running.
He said: “Don’t worry. I didn’t forget how to score goals. I will score.
“It’s going to be a big season. My form is fine, it’s time to be fit and ready.”
Andriy Shevchenko, the legendary former AC Milan striker, was another big money purchase who failed to spark upon joining Chelsea. But skipper John Terry believes Torres will, unlike the Ukraine international, come good.
He said: “It’s unfair [to compare him to Shevchenko]. He had the injury he sustained at the World Cup and came into the season with that. He’s happy even though the pressure is on him and he’s looking sharp.”
