Hungry? Now you can order from Deliveroo restaurants via Google Maps
Deliveroo is now firmly embedded in Google Maps, giving London’s workers even less reason to leave their desks at lunchtime.
The food delivery firm’s integration with the desktop, mobile web and mobile app versions of Maps means hungry City staff scanning restaurant details online can choose to have their meal of choice delivered directly to their offices via Deliveroo.
“We want to be the definitive food company and that means being readily available to customers wherever they are, whenever they are hungry,” said Mike Hudack, chief technology officer at Deliveroo.
“Our new integration with Google Maps will make it even easier for Deliveroo customers to order delicious food from the best local restaurants”.
The integration is available from today across 10 European countries as well as Asia Pacific regions, spanning 200 cities and 35,000 restaurant partners.
It comes after Google built out its Maps service in May to encompass a variety of location-based services like Uber, Lyft, Deliveroo, Just Eat and more.
This update was designed to allow these firms to embed Maps into their own apps, to improve drivers’ navigation and customers’ ease of finding places to eat. But today’s news shows that for Deliveroo it’s doing the opposite, taking the startup’s restaurant network and plugging it into Maps.
