HOW DID MAJESTIC WINE PERFORM GIVEN THE TOUGH ECONOMIC CLIMATE?

FIONA ORFORD-WILLIAMS EDISON
“Majestic managed respectably under the circumstances – it’s not exactly a surprise that it took a heavy hit from corporates cutting back on champagne. It would have been more squeezed if it were flogging basic entry-level plonk wines, since the mid to high end is more resilient.”

CHARLES PICK FINNCAP
“The results are in line with expectations, though champagne sales fell, which is a classic barometer of a recession. Times will continue to be tough but I am encouraged that Majestic’s market share remained steady despite the supermarkets offering special discounts on wine.”

NICK BUBB PALI INTERNATIONAL
“Corporate purchases have clearly been hit by the recession, but this has been offset to an extent by the recent favourable weather. Also, there is always room for a good specialist in this sector and Majestic’s strong range and service obviously keeps its loyal customers coming back.”
