Horseracing: David Pipe’s City PM Column

LAST week I mentioned that the lack of rain was causing us trainers some real headaches and I’m hoping our prayers will be answered today as there is plenty forecast at Wincanton ahead of tomorrow’s big meeting.

That will be particularly good news for RAMSES DE TEILLEE if it materialises, as soft ground is the key to him.

We’ve been trying to run him for the last two weekends, but the ground has simply been too quick, so we’ve not risked him.

The plan at this stage is to run him in tomorrow’s Badger Ales Trophy (3.35pm) as he seems in rude health at home after wind surgery in the summer and is itching to get started.

The handicapper has dropped him a few pounds, so we are hopeful he can rediscover some of his best form.

If the rain doesn’t come, he has the option of running at Aintree instead, so we will just keep an eye on the weather. One horse who will run at Aintree tomorrow is UN TEMPS POUR TOUT as a prep run for the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury.

He will go in the handicap hurdle (1.35pm) which should bring him on nicely.

The thing with him is that he is a tough one to get fit and, despite the fact he has done plenty of swimming at home, this will help ready him for next month.

REMASTERED is a really exciting type who could go in a novice hurdle at Ffos Las (1.25pm) on Sunday.

He won a bumper for us at Chepstow back in February and the runner-up came out and won well on Wednesday.

Another novice hurdler of ours to look out for is KNOW THE SCORE who holds entries at both Aintree and Ffos Las over the weekend.

I’ve not decided where he will start off yet, but he’s pretty smart and is worth following.
