Horse racing betting tips: Mutawatheb can stamp his class on Doncaster rivals

Richard Hannon’s MUTAWATHEB beat subsequent Group Two winner Tis Marvellous in June and he can prove his class once again by winning Wednesday's seven-furlong Nursery (2.30pm).

That Newbury form is the best on offer here, and he’s since run well when finishing fourth in a Listed contest at Ascot.

There was less than a length between the first five that day in a blanket finish at the Berkshire track.

Among those in the scramble to the line was Frankuus who boosted the form by landing a Listed prize at Haydock last weekend.

The drop back to six furlongs didn’t suit Mutawatheb at York last time out and he’ll certainly appreciate the cut in the ground and the extra distance.

It doesn’t look the hottest of races and he’ll be hard to beat, so take the 4/1 available with Coral.

The unexposed Andok looks my selection’s biggest danger, having won by 2 and 1/4 lengths on debut at Redcar, despite not getting the clearest of paths.

Jockey Paul Hanagan looks set for a good day as I fancy him to land the opener (2.00pm) aboard AKHLAAQ.

Owen Burrows’ charge did really well to win on debut at Salisbury last month, overcoming greenness to finish in front of his rivals.

Sfumato and Inner Circle, who finished second and fifth that day, have both come out and won since.

The son of New Approach is entered in some top class races later in the season and he can win this on his way to bigger and better things.

His main threat looks to be Kevin Ryan’s Dream Of Dreams who was third in the Group Two Railway Stakes at the Curragh two starts back.

He was pulled up in the Gimcrack last time, though, and it requires a big leap of faith to back him here.
