BEVERLEY hosts its biggest meeting of the year tomorrow with the Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes (3.15pm) the feature.

The likes of Tangerine Trees, Alpha Delphini and most recently Take Cover (twice) have won the five-furlong sprint and the 2019 renewal looks as competitive as ever.

Take Cover’s second consecutive victory last year was particularly impressive given he was just the second winner in the last decade to come from higher than stall four.

Tangerine Trees in 2011 was the other, but bar those two victors, it has paid to follow horses drawn low and that bodes well for my fancy JUDICIAL at 11/1 with Ladbrokes.

Julie Camacho’s seven-year-old has been a bit disappointing this year, but he has been running in top-class company and this looks a more realistic target.

He relishes tracks with an uphill finish like Beverley, so it’s no surprise he’s two from two here and he also holds the course record.

Joe Fanning takes the ride and his mount looks a big price to maintain his unbeaten record at the Yorkshire track, although he would prefer the ground to dry out a little.

I’m hoping it will be a good day for Fanning as I like the chances of DARK VISION in the Silver Cup Handicap (2.05pm).

Big things were expected of Mark Johnston’s runner after his win in the Vintage Stakes last season, but he hasn’t really built on that yet.

He has been largely campaigned at a mile this term which looks short of his optimum given his best performance came over 1m2f in a Newmarket handicap.

Johnston has always held the colt in high regard and back over 1m2f I think he’ll have too much for these.
