Horse racing betting: Third time lucky for Line Of Reason in Beverley Bullet

Chester and Epsom’s five furlong courses are two of the biggest draw biases in the country, but Beverley isn’t far behind.

Being drawn low in sprints at the Yorkshire track is a huge advantage – seven of the last eight winners of Saturday's Beverley Bullet (3.10pm) have been drawn four or lower.

There are some real old favourites in this year’s renewal with 11-year-old Kingsgate Native housed in stall three and last year’s winner Maarek, who is now nine, coming out of trap one.

You can’t rule out either, but they aren’t getting any younger and I’m hoping LINE OF REASON can win this race at his third attempt.

Paul Midgley’s six-year-old was third two years ago, beaten half a length by Pearl Secret, while last year he went down by just a quarter of a length to Maarek even though he was conceding 4lbs.

He won a Conditions race over course and distance back in June and his last two efforts have been excellent, finishing second in the Shergar Cup Dash and then fourth in a hot handicap at York last week off top weight.

His draw in stall five isn’t the best, but it could be a lot worse and he looks worth backing at a course where he has a really strong record. The generally available 6/1 is a fair each-way price.

Windsor

It’s great to see Ryan Moore back in the saddle after his injury and he can land the Group Three Winter Hill Stakes (6.00pm) at Windsor tonight with ULYSSES.

Sir Michael Stoute’s Galileo colt bounced back from a poor run in the Investec Derby to take last month’s Gordon Stakes at Goodwood. He should prove too good for this field.
