Cody Mo trains last start winner Honorary

THERE is no stopping trainer Cody Mo at present and the former assistant to Tony Cruz is racking up winners at a remarkable rate, with six victories in the past 10 days.

With a record of eight wins in May and another eight last month, the stable has climbed into seventh place in the trainers’ championship table with 46 wins, with likely more to come.

The 48-year-old sends a strong raiding party of nine gallopers to Sha Tin, many of whom hold strong claims.

His best chance may prove to be HONORARY, who seeks to defy a penalty in the seven-furlong Continuous Development Handicap (12.40pm).

The four-year-old, in the race commentator’s own words, “ran them ragged” when coming home alone over the course and distance last month, and that form received a boost when the runner-up won last weekend.

That is the best form in the race, and with an inside gate likely to see him stride out in front again from the off, he will be hard to catch.

Earlier on the card, it is hard to oppose STORM MIRROR, who is trending the right way to score his first career victory in the six-furlong Serving The Community Handicap (11.35am).

Having been untested when never seeing daylight and finishing seventh on his debut over five furlongs in May, the son of Deep Field again did not enjoy much luck when third over the minimum trip three weeks later.

The step up in distance is an obvious plus and, with Zac Purton remaining in the saddle, he should be hard to beat.
