Hong Kong Horse Racing Tips: Purton and Fownes hoping to be Super Lucky up in trip

HARDLY a week goes by without champion jockey Zac Purton making the headlines in Hong Kong.

Just a couple of weeks ago the Zac- Man had thousands of supporters screaming with delight after he produced a winning six-timer at Sha Tin, narrowly missing out on seventh after being impeded in the last race.

Last Sunday, fortune did a full circle with Purton, much to his fans’ anguish, riding six seconds, before compensating his followers with a last gasp winner at 14-1!

His best chance of success at Happy Valley this afternoon looks to be on the John Moore-trained GOOD BEAUTY in the 2.15pm over the extended mile.

The Moore and Purton combination has already proved a fruitful partnership to follow this season, with a 50 per cent strike rate –11 winners from 22 rides.

They can improve that tally with a horse who is drawn to get the run of the race and will enjoy the step up in distance.

Earlier, Purton teams up with his old ally Caspar Fownes on SUPER LUCKY, who steps up in distance in the 12.45pm over the extended mile.

This Australian import didn’t look fully wound-up when an eye-catching fourth over six furlongs last week and will be at his peak for this contest.

Purton also rides the strangely named newcomer Fat Turtle, who will be all the rage in the 2.50pm, having won three times in Australia, and trialed well.

However, they may have to give best to the Silvestre de Sousa-ridden SPARKLING DRAGON who has already won over course and distance and looks well-handicapped.
