Hong Kong Horse Racing Tips: Back Dragon to cap off a Glorious day for Tony Millard

FORMER champion South African trainer Tony Millard, with 30 winners already this season, looks set for his best ever total since joining the training ranks in Hong Kong back in 2000.

Millard, who saddled Rickfield to victory at Happy Valley last week, has only a couple of horses entered at the Valley, but both are fancied to go well.

GIFT OF LIFELINE runs in the 2.15pm over six furlongs and can be considered a winner without a penalty after a desperate run when a close-up third over course and distance last month.

On that occasion from an awkward draw, he bombed the start, and then found himself with nowhere to go when making his challenge up the home straight.

The fact he finished a close-up third speaks plenty about his ability.

The form of that race has been recently advertised by the winner who was placed next time under a penalty, and the fourth winning easily next start.

This time from positive draw, he is mapped for a dream journey along the rails, and can use his impressive finishing dash to good effect down the home straight.

Stable companion GLORIOUS DRAGON is an interesting contender in the 3.15pm over 1m1f.

This former UK galloper, known as Stephenson’s Rocket when trained by Ed Walker, has gradually improved in three runs this season.

He was an eye-catcher in a recent track trial and now looks ready to peak.

With the likes of Dances With Dragon and Purton’s mount Happy Dragon in opposition, he should start at attractive odds, and looks an each-way proposition.
