Around 100 people have been evacuated from their homes in Islington this morning, after a burst water main led to flooding on Upper Street.

London Fire Brigade said firefighters were dealing with the flood between City Road and Islington Green in north London. Six fire engines and three fire rescue units have been deployed.

The water is at a depth of two metres in the basements of properties on Charlton Place, the fire brigade said. Multiple properties are affected and around 100 people have been evacuated. Police are using the The Steam Tavern as a refuge for residents.

Upper Street is currently closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

London Ambulance said there had been no injuries as a result of the flooding.
