DANIEL KEATINGS created gymnastics history at London’s O2 Arena last night after winning Britain’s first ever World Championship medal in the men’s all-round event.

No Britain had ever finished higher than 16th in the discipline made of the floor, pommel horse, rings, parallel bars, high bar and vault.
But the 19-year-old produced the performance of his life to finish runner-up to Japan’s Kohei Uchimura.

“It’s amazing,” said Keatings, who finished 20th in the Beijing Olympics. “It was a dream before I came here and now it’s a reality. It is out of this world, I’m speechless.

“There was big expectations but I managed to get through it. It was a dream and there was always that chance if I went clean. There were a few falls and I came through.”

Kristian Thomas capped a day to remember for Britain by taking sixth.
