Reading win 3-0 on aggregate

READING manager Brian McDermott paid tribute to his side’s fighting spirit after they booked their place in the Championship play-off final at Wembley against Swansea on 30 May.

The Royals entered the post-season lottery as the form team in the division on the back of seven wins from their last 10 games.

And their good run continued in the Welsh capital as a Shane Long brace and Jobi McAnuff’s late clincher guaranteed them a shot at restoring their top flight status after a two-year absence from the Premier League.

“We kept winning, we won eight on the trot and I always had faith,” McDermott said. “We live in the now and it’s fantastic. I’m so pleased, the final will be a great occasion.”

Top scorer Long added: “Any goals I can score at Wembley will be more important. It wasn’t one of my best games but I scored twice.”
