Verily, formerly part of Google's Life Sciences division before the creation of Alphabet, will combine its bioelectronics and analytics expertise with Sanofi's background in treatment.

"We want to develop solutions that allow people living with diabetes to focus on the things they love and enjoy in life by providing tools to make dealing with their diabetes less burdensome."

Initially Onduo will develop a diabetes management platform focusing on type two diabetes, which accounts for more than 90 per cent of cases, but plans to address type one in future.
