FOOTBALL: Arsenal say Kieran Gibbs will only be missing for the “short term” after injuring his foot in the Carling Cup victory over Tottenham on Tuesday night.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger feared the England left-back had suffered his second broken metatarsal in a year.

But scans revealed the 20-year-old had not suffered a fracture.
“Kieran has suffered severe bruising to his left foot and will hopefully only be missing from first-team action for the short term,” a club statement read.
