Donald Trump turns against Fox News after impeachment poll

President Donald Trump may have to expand his definition of the “lamestream media” after falling out with his longtime favourite news station, Fox News.

The broadcaster published a poll today showing a majority of US voters want the President to be impeached.

But Trump did not take the news lightly, tweeting this afternoon: “Whoever their pollster is, they suck.”

Public support has appeared to be swinging against the President in recent weeks amid a formal impeachment inquired that Democrats launched in Congress last month.

The White House has said it would refuse to co-operate with the inquiry, which is focused on Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Published records of the phone call show that Trump repeatedly suggest Zelensky should investigate former Vice President and Democrat candidate Joe Biden and his son.

Fox News has been a key media ally of Trump during his tenure as President.

However, the organisation has found itself in Trump’s sights after publishing a poll which found that support for impeachment was up 11 points among Democrats, five points among Republicans and three points among independents.
