Freshfields appoints eight to partnership in London in largest promotions round since crisis

Magic Circle law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has promoted eight lawyers to its partnership in the City.

The eight were part of a global 22-strong promotions round, its largest since 2008.

The lawyers making the grade in London are transactional lawyers Cyrus Pocha, Roger Schofield, Vanessa Jakovich and Keir MacLennan, disputes lawyers Aled Batey, Tom Clark and Oliver Marsden, and chief legal officer Jonathan Kembery.

Six of the Magic Circle firm’s new partners are women.

Last year the firm boosted profit per equity partner 12 per cent to hit £1.734m and increased revenue five per cent to £1.4bn.

Senior partner, Edward Braham said, “Our new partners will play an important role in delivering the advice our clients want, wherever in the world that may be needed.”

Fellow Magic Circle firm Slaughter and May appointed just one lawyer to its partnership in its latest promotions round.
