Frankie’s Thoughts
THE waiting is almost over and I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s QIPCO British Champions Day. The Champions Series has been a tremendous success so far and the organisers have been rewarded with some world class fields for the big day. Ascot has a special place in my heart and hopefully I’ll be in the winner’s enclosure at some point.
I kick off the day with Opinion Poll in the Long Distance Cup and he must have a favourite’s chance. He’s been wonderfully consistent all season and I hope he can reverse the Gold Cup form with Fame And Glory. He goes well at Ascot and I’m expecting a decent run.
I ride Medicean Man for Jeremy Gask in the Sprint and he has an each-way chance. He’s won on three of his five visits to Ascot and course form always counts for plenty here.
The Fillies and Mares looks very open, but I was impressed with my mount Meeznah in the Park Hill at Doncaster last time. She was second in last year’s Oaks, but went off the boil after that and she’s now showing what a top class filly she is.
Poet’s Voice takes on Frankel in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and we all know what a difficult task that’s going to be. He won the race last year, though, so hopefully he can produce another good performance.
My final ride of the day is Dubai Prince in the Champion Stakes. I haven’t ridden him before, but he’s unexposed and we’re very excited to see how he fares.
