Forget pumpkin spice lattes and Christmas-themed cappuccinos, Starbucks has taken its drink innovation to a whole new level this autumn – though it might be one you want to skip for your 8am coffee.

It has been inspired by the mixing process behind the coffee chain's Shakerato drinks, in which a combo of espresso and syrup is shaken until it becomes frothy.

In the Espresso Cloud, a shot of espresso is shaken over ice with orange pieces and a dash of vanilla to create a cloud of micro-foam. This is then layered on top of a just-poured beer, which is served with the cold shaken espresso shot on the side (though, of course, you can pour it in).
