Rafa foiled, but will strengthen
LIVERPOOL boss Rafael Benitez is hopeful of strengthening his squad in the January transfer window – but has been warned off Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones.
“We will see if we can do something more in this transfer window,” said Benitez, despite his financial constraints. “If we cannot we will stick together for the next challenge.”
Hull clinch Zaki loan deal
HULL CITY have signed former Wigan striker Amr Zaki on loan until the end of the season from Egyptian side Zamalek.
Zaki scored 11 goals when on loan at Wigan last season before a public fall-out with then boss Steve Bruce.
Magpies three points clear
NEWCASTLE stretched their lead at the top of the Championship after twice coming from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with promotion rivals West Brom.
Goals from Danny Guthrie and Peter Lovenkrands cancelled out strikes from West Brom’s Jonas Olsson and Roman Bednar, although Ishmael Miller missed a sitter to win it for the Baggies late on.
