MASTER OF MACAROONS COMES TO LONDON
Parisian pâtissière to the stars Pierre Hermé is to come to London. Naturally he’ll have a Knightsbridge boutique – but that’s scheduled for summer. In the meantime, his gilded macaroons and bonbons will be on sale at Selfridges, from 5 February. Hermé is credited with creating the modern macaroon, having introduced flavourings like rose and pistachio, now staples in the macaroon flavour spectrum. www.pierreherme.com.

PIERRE GAGNAIRE TO GRACE SKETCH
Pierre Gagnaire, of Masterchef fame, will be making a guest appearance in the kitchens of Sketch, the super-swanky West End restaurant complex he still officially lords it over. He’ll be working his magic in both the Lecture Room & Library and The Gallery with his master’s take on fusion French cuisine. Not something to be missed, whether you’re a fan of Sketch, Masterchef or just superbly, innovatively-done French food. 3-5 Feb at Sketch. 9 Conduit Street, W1S 2XG, tel: 020 7659 4500.

HUMMOUS COMES TO THE CITY
Hummous Brothers, the sleekest and in City PM’s opinion, the best hummous joint in London, is bringing some of its legumous love to Cheapside. It opened with a splash on?Friday, having offered £4.5m to the?Canada for permission to remodel St Paul’s dome as a chickpea. Sadly the bid was refused, but the restaurant has opened nevertheless, and is turning out its delicious, silky smooth hummous infused with Israeli-sourced tahini. A variety of toppings, including meat and guacamole, makes this a very filling, and nutritious, way to fuel up. 128 Cheapside London EC2V 6BT tel 020 7726 8011.
