FOOD AND MUSIC IN CAMDEN
A taste of Sicily is coming to Camden Town, in the shape of new restaurant Caponata, which opens tomorrow night. And Camden being the centre of London’s live music scene, it’s got its own music and arts space, called The Forge. Signature dishes in the main restaurant will include the, um, interesting-sounding scallops with turnip mousse and watercress pesto, and chargrilled calf’s liver with chestnut mash and grape sauce. There’s a separate cafe-bar that’s open from breakfast to supper, an open courtyard space, and a programme of classical, jazz, folk and world music planned for the live venue. 3-7 Delancey St, NW1 7NL,

CHRISTMAS TEA IN THE CITY
Eight Moorgate members club is getting in the indulgent spirit of the festive season with an English tea that certainly isn’t for dieters. The Christmas-themed tea features a host scrummy treats like cranberry macaroons, pear and ginger tarts, Christmas cake and mince pies, as well as so-called “chocolate brownie baubles” and scones, clotted cream and jam. And you can follow all that up with a warming glass of mulled wine. Just don’t expect to get much done if you head back to the office afterwards. PIE AND MASH IN THE WEST END
Newly opened Battersea Pie Station isn’t in Battersea – in fact you’ll find it in Covent Garden – but it does have masses of fabulous pies for the hungry folk of the West End to enjoy. Steak and guinness, chicken and bacon, pheasant, smoky bacon and apple and The Winstone – named after beefy actor Ray and containing steak and kidney – are amongst the pies on offer, and there’s ample traditional mash and liquor to have with them. Lower Ground Floor, 28 the Market, Covent Garden, WC2E 8R,. www.batterseapiestation.co.uk
