NEED TO KNOW | EPSOM

Commuting: 35 minutes by train into either Victoria or Waterloo, with approximately six trains an hour at peak times. It is close to Junction 9 of the M25 and is also well located for both Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Schools: Wallace Fields Junior School is a strong primary school, as is independent prep school Kingswood House. Public school Epsom College provides co-educational education for those aged 13 to 18. Rosebery School for Girls is an all girls secondary, which has high academic achievement.

Crime: Statistics indicate that Epsom is much safer than the national average.

Restaurants & Pubs: The Derby Arms on Epsom Downs is a gastropub with a view of the racecourse. Restaurant at Chalk Lane Hotel is located at the foot of the Epsom Downs and has had a 2 AA Rosette for the past eight years. It serves modern European food. The Ladas is a welcoming, traditional pub with a wide selection of real ale. In the centre of Epsom, the Railway Guard is small and friendly and occasionally hosts live music.

Parks and Leisure: The Epsom Derby is held nearby in June. Outside the town are Horton Country Park, Epsom Common and the RAC Country Club. Theme park Chessington World of Adventures is a few kilometres away.
