Finn puts England’s cause before his need for speed
ENGLAND bowler Steven Finn is refusing to abandon hope of achieving a momentous series win in India despite having been on the receiving end of back-to-back thrashings.
Finn expects England to throw off the shackles and produce the sort of cricket that saw them outplay India on home soil this summer – starting with today’s third one-day match.
He said: “We’ve got nothing to lose now – we’re playing against the world champions in their own conditions, we have nothing to lose whatsoever.
“In these next three games we’re going to leave nothing in the dressing room and we’re really looking forward to these three games. We have full belief that we can win them all.”
Finn has caught the eye in the opening two matches by clocking impressive speeds of around 94mph, but the Middlesex youngster insists he will not be sidetracked from the old virtues of line and length in an attempt to generate extra pace.
“It was great. But it’s not something that is occupying my mind. If I can bowl at 94mph consistently, then great,” he said. “It’s nice being referenced in that bracket, but more important is where the ball goes. At what pace it does it is irrelevant.”
