EY has announced the appointment of Mats Persson, a former chief of staff to Sajid Javid, as a partner in its strategy and transactions business.

Persson had already been acting as an independent advisor over the last year, designing strategies for transport and energy companies, the auditing giant said in a statement published last week.

He has also previously held a role with EY as the company’s Brexit and Trade Strategy Leader between 2017-2018.

He will now join the firm as a partner and focus on policy-led energy transition.

The new EY partner has previously also held senior roles in government as the chief of staff to the then chancellor of the exchequer, Sajid Javid, in 2019 and as a special advisor under David Cameron’s administration in 2015.

“I’m looking forward to utilising my knowledge and background in government, policy and business strategy,” said Persson.
