Ever Given finally docked at the Port of Felixstowe on Tuesday after blocking the Suez Canal earlier this year.

The ship was stuck for six days in the major shipping lane in Egypt, causing mass disruption to the global supply chains in April.

Ever Given’s mooring at the Port of Felixstowe today has attracted dozens of onlookers to gather along the port’s banks to witness the moment, which comes fourth months later than planned.

Ever Given will next go to Hamburg, Germany.

The 400m-long ship was heading to Rotterdam when it got stuck into the sandy bank of a narrow stretch of the Suez Canal in late March.

The ship was freed six days later, but it has already caused one of the biggest marine traffic disruptions in shipping history. Hundreds of ships awaited its unblock from the waterway, and some were forced to detour around the southern tip of Africa.

The Egyptian authorities held the ship for more than three months due to a financial dispute over compensation. In July, the ship was released after an agreement was reached between its Japanese owner, Shoei Kisen Kaisha, and the canal authorities.
