Crypto AM Daily - a roundup of today's market news

The price of Bitcoin continues to hover around the $24k mark this morning, with the leading cryptocurrency by market cap down 0.75 per cent to $23,851. It’s still up 3.75 per cent over the past seven days, as it continues to consolidate in the $23k to $25k area.

Ethereum is up slightly this morning, changing hands for around $1,874. Ethereum’s share of the total crypto market cap has surpassed 20 per cent for the first time since May after several weeks of outperforming Bitcoin, as it continues to climb towards its highs of last year.

The Fear and Greed index has recovered to its highest levels since April. Bitcoin’s short-term correlation to the broad financial markets has declined towards yearly low levels, with Bitcoin underperforming Nasdaq. Are crypto and equities finally decoupling?

Convince your Nan: Soundbite of the day

“If Bitcoin continues to succeed as a globally used store-of-value monetary asset, it would reestablish the line between saving and investing. It would mean that citizens would no longer be forced to invest their hard-earned money in an attempt to maintain the value they already earned.
