NOTTS COUNTY executive chairman Peter Trembling has quashed mounting speculation that Sven-Goran Eriksson is on the verge of quitting the ambitious League Two club.

Weekend reports suggested that Eriksson, the club’s director of football, is on the brink of leaving after becoming disillusioned just weeks into the job.

But Trembling insists the Swede going nowhere after holding clear-the-air talks with the former England boss on Saturday.

“He’s not, absolutely not. It’s paper talk. I’m not sure where they get all these stories from,” he said.

“He’s part of the project. It’s a five-year plan. Sven’s point of view is he wants us to get into the Premier League in three years, which I think is slightly ambitious, but I’m happy to take that if it happens.”

New owners Munto Finance have had a torrid start to their tenure, with persistent questioning of the identity of the investors and former England defender Sol Campbell walking out after just one match.
