TRAINING YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS
Deloitte, 3i, Diageo and McKinsey are backing a new training programme to encourage young people to be more entrepreneurial. The programme is selective and runs for one year from September. It is aimed at motivated young people interested in business. 25 candidates will have a 12-month internship with an entrepreneur. In addition, they will take part in training seminars and events run by business schools and the sponsoring companies. For more information visit www.newentrepreneursfoundation.com

FOREIGN ENTREPRENEURS GIVEN PASSPORT
The government has offered wealthy foreign entrepreneurs a fast track to settle in Britain. New immigration rules say that overseas investors willing to keep £5m in a British bank account will be allowed to stay in the country indefinitely after only three years. Those who create 10 jobs or achieve an annual turnover of £10m a year for their UK business will also be eligible to settle after three years. The normal procedure lasts five years. The home secretary said she would not limit the number of wealth creators who can come to Britain.

Paul Grant, the former director of the venture capital firm Capital Partners will be giving a talk on starting a business without external capital and another on how to obtain funding. These will be held on Thursday 24 March and Thursday 7 April respectively. Tickets are £25 and they are held in the late afternoon to evening at the British Library.
