Ennis out for rest of the season
ATHLETICS: European heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis has brought her 2010 season to an end as she begins her preparations for London 2012.
Ennis, 24, will sit out both the London Grand Prix and the Commonwealth Games to focus on her next major aim – the 2011 World Championships.
“This is absolutely the right decision for me now,” Ennis said. “We have to look at the next two years and keeping me fit and improving those areas of my performance that I can.”
l Asafa Powell has been forced to pull out of tonight’s 100m Diamond League showdown with Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay in Stockholm with hamstring and back problems.
It would have been the first time the big three had raced each other this year.
